Our sincerest apologies

What slackers we have been this week!

Actually, we have a really good excuse. We religiously make a post every Monday through Friday but this week has been an exception. We made no post yesterday and haven't been able to visit our friends blogs much this week either. Our reason: our Aunt Evie passed away. Our moms aunt was a very caring woman who always had a laugh and a smile to give and will be terribly missed by all who knew her.

We promise that we will be back to our regular scheduling of neurotic dog posts on Monday. Until then, have a great weekend everyone. Be safe and enjoy!

Hygiene, what's the big deal?

Did I just hear the word "BATH"?

I just had a bath about a week ago.
What's wrong with a little bit of greasy ear fur from the ranch salad dressing I got a hold of?

I think I smell yummy!
Between the dressing and the rabbit poo that I rolled on,
my fur is perfect and just how I like it!

Perhaps if I lay here I will blend into the couch and they won't find me.

A note from Mom:
Does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of the tear stains besides using Angel Eyes? I have tried changing his diet, using filtered water, and then filtered water with apple cider vinegar. Can anyone offer up any solutions that are all natural and do not require pills? I do not like to use chemicals and obviously, Tucker's attempt with Ranch salad dressing didn't work either, although I think he had an ulterior motive.

Send me your suggestions.
Thanks!

We Remember

We remember the men and women who have so honorably served this country throughout history. We remember their courage, their selflessness and their dedication. We remember the hardship, the suffering and the sacrifice they endured.

On Memorial Day and every day, we remember with respect those who have fought to defend our democratic ideals and secure our freedoms. With deep gratitude, we salute our country's brave and honorable veterans.

Weekend Fun

Welcome to the weekend!
We have a lot to celebrate in the next few days.
Our girl Katie turns 16 years old tomorrow!

We are going to help mom make an Oreo cheesecake for her.
Go Katie! You Rock!

Also, here in the states, this weekend is Memorial Day weekend, a time when we remember those who have served and fought for our country so that we may remain a free land.
Monday is when we will honor our heros.

Until then...

SUN, FUN
AND
BAR-B-QUE!!!

Open the pools, fire up the grill and lather on the sunscreen!

We're having a huge family get-together on Sunday
and everyone is invited! (since you are all family too).

What?
Don't know where we live or can't make it?

That's okay.

We'll indulge on extra helpings of food on your behalf.

That's what friends are for.

Have a safe, happy,
belly-filling weekend everyone!

The Secret is out!

While perusing the local branch of the library yesterday,
we came across a book that was very enlightening
and we needed to share with our friends.

Yep.
Those Darn Squirrels!

There is actually a book published about these insane creatures.

We've read lots of dog blogs about these critters.
A few of you have even been given awards for your chasing abilities.

We decided we had to check out this book to see if there
was any important information we could pass along.

Did you see what that said?
Let us zoom in with our camera to show you the all important words...

Squirrels are geniuses!!!
We find this preposterous!
There is no way that these fuzzy-tailed rodents can be that smart!

Look at this...
They actually get together and drink, eat and scheme and devise blueprints in order to raid bird feeders. We have no doubt that they are plotting against our fellow dog-friends right now.

We are thanking our lucky stars that we don't have any squirrels
in our back yard - just rabbits.
We are going to head over to the rabbit section of the library
next time we are there to read up on those land-locked rodents.

Our fellow dog friends -
BEWARE OF THE SQUIRRELS!!!

Our advice is to work in teams to outsmart them.
Be careful going out after dark and lock the doors behind you.
Otherwise, according to the book, they will lock you out and
party inside your house.

We shudder at the thought.

Life's Little Adventures

Sometimes one finds themselves in situations they really don't want to be in and have no control about changing that situation.

Hence, my story.

Let me just start by prefacing that I am not a brave soul. I'm a little guy who surrounds himself with bigger companions so that I don't have to be brave. Let Tink and Tucker take care of the dirty work is my motto. Sometimes that motto doesn't always work.

The other day started out like all others. Outside to potty, breakfast, wrestling, outside again to potty (all while following mom around. Tuck and I have learned to wrestle on her feet, then she cannot go far).

With the tinkling of my leash my world turned upside down. I was going for a ride in the car... by myself... without my Tink and Tuck... just me and the car and not an ounce of bravery to get me by.

Of course, I cried relentlessly while in the car and insisted on sitting on mom's lap while she drove. Either that or I was going to burrow under the car seats like I did last time. That almost caused a car wreck.

The ride took F-O-R-E-V-E-R!!! (Okay, about 20 minutes but mom said it felt like forever with all my whining going on).

Where did I end up?
Grandma's house!!!

Being the whiner that I am, I paced and paced and whined and cried (after I showered Grandma and Grandpa with my special doxie love and affection). I had finally settled down when I heard the tinkling of my leash again. They really expected me to get in the car again!

Everyone piled in the car (me, mom, out little girl, Grandma and Grandpa). They even insisted I sit in the backseat with Grandpa even though I tried to explain that I MUST sit on mom's lap in the front seat.

Once the car was parked my snooter smelled the most wonderful aromas wafting through the air. Was that really cow manure I smelled? Was this horrible car ride going to end in a nice roll through some lovely smelling mulch for me?

Nope. I was forced to stay on my leash as we perused the local flower, shrub and tree nursery. I was allowed to scuttle under all the plant displays sniffing where the resident raccoons and cats liked to roam. An hour and a half later and my poor little legs tired to the bone, we finally left... again in the car... to return to Grandma's house.

I am exhausted at this point - pretty oblivious to the whole ride back to our house. I don't think a single whimper, whine or cry passed my little lips. After returning home, I greeted Tucker and Tink, assuring them that I was safe and that I would fill them in on my terrifying adventure... after I woke up from a well deserved nap.

It's not easy being me.

Lucky Friday

What a week it has been!

Our mom has been a crazy-lady all week.
She keeps mumbling something about the end of the school year, too many things/dances/parties/field trips/events/birthdays/summer camps, etc. to remember. We're guessing that with three human kids, (one who is turning 16, getting her drivers license and working, one who is playing baseball, and one who is graduating from kindergarten), there is a lot going on that needs to be remembered.

She's hanging in there though - probably because of all the special love and attention we have been giving her. Even when she tells us that it is not necessary to wrestle on her feet, we do not need to sit on her lap whenever she sits down and that she does not need our help following her around 24/7, we know that it is us who really makes the difference with keeping mom sane.

So, this week, we are lucky dogs because we have a mom who hasn't gone postal on us. She is staying organized and is keeping it together.

Here's for all the mom's out there who need to feel a little more appreciated for all the hard work they do. A moms work is never done.
And some words to remember...
if moms not happy, no body's happy!

Won't you be my neighbor?

My little cottage in my backyard.
Wanna come in and play?

Oscar likes to play inside the cottage.
Lots of blades of grass to smell.

Hey Tucker!
Quit leaning in the window and come inside and play.

I wonder if any of my neighbor friends would like to play in our cottage.

Time to survey the yard.
Hey look - rabbit poo!
YUM!

His Royal Dogness

When it comes to living a dog's life, it all depends on the company you keep.

More than 2,500 years ago, the dogs we call Pekingese guarded the emperors of China. In the first century AD, Emperor Ming Ti, a Buddhist, named them Fu Lin, or "lion dogs." The lion represented strength to Buddhists. Ming Ti decided the ferocious little guard dogs matched the descriptions of lions (since China had no lions). The dogs could be owned only by aristocrats living in the Forbidden City, the royal court in Beijing. In the early days, Westerners called Beijing "Peking", so today well call the dogs Pekingese.

The Pekingese became the beloved companions of China's royal court. Ladies carried them around, hidden in their voluminous sleeves. The dogs also wore silk robes and had their own staffs to groom and care for them.

Happy Barkday Chuck

Our new friend Chuck (a.k.a. Chuck Norris) celebrated his Barkday this past weekend. His mom contacted our mom for a cake. Mom makes two different barkday cakes, carrot and meatloaf. Chuck, apparently, is a meat-man and opted for the meatloaf with mashed potato icing. Word on the street is, Chuck enjoyed his special day immensely.

Happy Barkday Chuck!

Doing this is just flirting with disaster!

Through the eyes of a 5-year old girl

Lucky Friday again - the day we reflect on why we are such lucky dogs. We will let the pictures do the talking. This is love as seen through the eyes of our little girl Keegan. We are truly lucky to have a wonderful family who loves us dearly. It is also a relief to know that everyone reading this is loved by their families too.

Mom thinks Keegan is a better photographer than she is.

Also, please take the time to visit our friend Frankie Furter - a lovable doxie with a way with words. Our likenesses are being used for his new mystery "The case of the missing friend". Another reason we are incredibly lucky dogs. Check it out!

Have a great weekend everyone.
