Lucky Friday and Earth Hour

We three hooligans are truly lucky and we always try to remember just how lucky we are... especially when we do something B.A.D. that sends us either to time-out or a short incarceration in the Big House! We always make it out alive and kickin' and in our book, that makes us lucky. We read every day about the awful abuse that other doggies go through and are reminded that a moment in time-out is nothing compared to their lives.

So imagine our surprise when the mail was brought in from the mailbox and there was a package for us! WE ARE SO LUCKY!!! Our friend Mason Dixie sent us mail! Of course, we all did the major sniffing and decided there was something edible inside and it must be busted open immediately. We would love to show you pictures but our mom was still at work and she had the camera with her. We quickly found the bag of yummy treats but discovered something else in the package also. It was us!

It was us staring back at us! Mason Dixie had sent us a beautiful magnet of us. Well, we immediately placed it on the side of the refrigerator for all to see. We can be found right next to the Jayhawks magnet that lights up and the flowers and Dachshund paper holder yet above the cheezy "Visit Louisville" magnet and right next to the kitchen under-the-counter radio/CD player remote. The side of our refrigerator has become a plethora (hee hee, we like that word. It sounds funny.) of funny and memorable magnets. Mom thinks its great!

That wasn't all that was in the package though. Also inside was a wonderful postcard with Mason's pretty face on it. We immediately found a prominent place on the front of the refrigerator to display that also. Her loveliness can be found to the right of the map of the United State and below and to the left of our girl Keegan's artwork. As you can see, her artwork covers the whole front of the refrig. She is such the artist! Gotta love kindergarten!

You've probably noticed that there is nothing on the bottom of the refrigerator (on the freezer portion). Why not you ask? Well, some certain doggie (we won't mention names... Tucker!) likes to do drive-by's and grab anything on the bottom, tear it off and run! He's not happy until it has been shredded into a million pieces. Mom says she has baby-proofed the fridge. Guess she's calling Tucker a baby! (Tucker's a baby... Tucker's a baby! He isn't even a year old yet so technically, he still is a puppy. Boy is he going to be ticked when he reads this. We feel a wrestling match coming on! Let's get ready to rumble!)

Mason, thanks so much. Your kindness is super awesome and you are the reason we are so lucky this week!

We also want to remind everydog that tomorrow, Saturday March 28, is Earth Hour. Make sure you remember to turn your lights off and unplug anything else that you possibly can for one hour from 8:30pm-9:30pm to save energy. Sounds like a great time to go for a moon-lit walk or to snuggle in a candle-lit room with the ones you love. For more information, visit EarthHour.org.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and say a prayer for those living in the Fargo, North Dakota area. Mother Nature is wreaking havoc. We are praying that every human and animal gets through the flooding safely.

Look up!

You know spring is finally here when you see the return of the tree cats. Camouflaged to blend into the bark of the tree, they are known to capture any bird or squirrel that may venture or fly to the tree. Watch out below though. They will pounce on any unsuspecting dog that ventures by. They will "cat"apult themselves onto the back of any uncourageous small dog, scaring the bejebus out of them, and be out of site before the dog is able to come to their senses.

Be aware... be very aware.

Some good info

What's a boy gotta do to get some sleep around here?

Alright, I'm awake. Now what?

My mom wants to thank LuLu and LoLLy. After perusing their website she learned a thing or two about why dogs like Tucker (Pekingese), Maltese, and other dogs eyes drain and what to do about it. Thanks! Let's keep our paws crossed and hope that one or two of these suggestions/remedies work. We like to keep things chemical-free in our house and they had a lot of suggestions.

Did you know that the tap water Tuck drinks could be causing his eyes to tear and that the dark red stains are actually yeast? The main cause of tear staining is wetness around the eyes. This excess moisture is a breeding ground for bacteria and yeast. Red Yeast or Ptyrosporin is what causes the reddish-brown stain. Low grade bacterial infections can also cause eye stain. This excessive tearing could be caused by the environment, his overall health, his food or water or genetics.

Tucker is not a boy who is into good hygiene. He hates to be clean, he hates to have his fur trimmed, he doesn't like his teeth cleaned. Let's face it... he is all boy. We're gonna try some changes and see if the stains clear up.

Stop by LuLu and Lolly's site. They are two little dogs just trying to raise a few bucks for a good cause and from the looks of it, they are doing a great job!

(Personally, we thought Maltese were only good for cleaning out the dust bunnies from underneath the bed or furniture. Boy, have our eyes been opened to the many facets and uses for a Maltese. Apparently, they also make good chew toys and some of them already come decorated with cute little hair bows. These two little ladies are full of adventure and are not afraid to throw on a pink wig or sky dive to prove it. They are no push-overs. LuLu aspire to be a pro-wrestler and Lolly is becoming a world famous writer. Oh, go find out for yourself. Head over and see what they are all about.)

Spring if finally here and Remembering an old friend

First of all...
HAPPY SPRING!!!
We know every dog is looking forward to warmer weather. Our friends down under are enjoying their last days of warm weather before winter sets in. So, may today be a delightful day for every dog!

The other day, our mom saw a doggie that reminded her of her dog b.t.o.t. (before Tink, Oscar and Tucker).

Years ago, our family had a dog named JR. What did JR stand for? Absolutely nothing. Apparently they thought that was funny.

JR was a tank of love. He was an English Bulldog who crossed over the rainbow bridge too early in his life. When JR was two years old, he developed a few hot spots on his chest. The vet treated them with antibiotics and they got better. Then they got worse... The vet treated them with antibiotics and they got better. Then they got worse... The vet treated them with antibiotics and they got better. Then they got worse... Get the picture? This went on for a year. Finally, he was sent to a specialist because the vet could not prescribe any stronger antibiotic. Sad news. He actually had cancer and was full of tumors inside. Never once did he complain or act uncomfortable. He was always a trooper.

JR is the reason my mom started her
dog treat business. She always wondered if something JR ate added to or caused the cancer. So, everything she makes is all natural and organic. No chemicals in this house!

Here's a picture of the old boy.

Let the Madness Begin

March Madness is finally here!
I am patiently awaiting the games to start.

Who should I root for to go all the way?

Have you filled out your bracket yet?

The unanimous choice in our house is...

Who are you cheering for?

Dog Parkin' It

What a day yesterday! Too much green! It's gonna take us till next year to recover from all the dancing, eating and drinking! WHEW!

While we are recovering, we will tell you about our trip to the dog park on this past Sunday.

The weather was wonderful and it showed by the outpouring of dogs and their owners at the park. Talk about a full house! It was so crowded that the boys had to go to the small dog area and Tink had to go to the big dog area. There was so much sniffing going it, it was crazy.

The boys found lots of new friends to hang out with. Oscar found his favorite bench that he loves to burrow under. Tucker headed toward his fire hydrant.

Tink was having a super time too. So many big dogs! Check out this big guy. His name is Elvis. Anybody wanna ride the horse? He's so big he scares children!

Tinkerbell kept making sure that we were okay in our fenced area. I guess she was feeling bad for paying so much attention to the poster of Mango instead of us.

What a great day! We were so exhausted afterward that we took ourselves some big, fat naps! Can't wait until we go back again!

The Injustice Of It All!!!!

He had to go and do it.
Our [once favorite] Big Boy of the DWB
Mango went and posted a photo of himself wearing nothing but a tool belt.

Tinkerbell quickly downloaded his photo and has is sticky-taped up on her wall by her bed just like a teenager with a poster of her favorite boy band. We've tried to knock some sense into her but she is like a girl experiencing the Beatles Invasion all over again.

This poster is like the equivalent of Farrah Fawcett in nothing but a swimsuit or like the scandalous calendars hung in a mechanics shop above his tool chest. Outrageous!

Tinkerbell refuses to leave her bed. She lies there like a girl in heat fantasizing about him listening to the Jonas Brothers on her I-Pod!

We have had enough! How are two little guys supposed to compete with the Tim-the-tool-man wannabe? We used to look up to him... literally... and then he goes and steals our girls heart filling her head with Barry White-induced hopes and dreams!

These two height-challenged boys are uniting against the injustice of it all.

Is it really that time of year again?

Well, bust out the bagpipes and dance me a jig.

It's St. Patrick's Day Weekend!!!

Time for corned beef and cabbage, green beer and CD after CD of the Celtic Women!

Wishing everyone a safe and very green weekend - because there is a little Irish is all of us!

Watch out for the claws!

We caught him...

Taz - practicing his Ninja skills to use against us when we least expect it.

Sneaky... sneaky... sneaky!

Do you like?

Check out our new mustaches!

Do they make us look mucho macho?

We know... we know... everyone thinks we pick on poor Tucker too much.
Always making fun of his underbite, his personal hygiene (or lack of), his lack of courage, etc.
In actuality, behind the scenes, Tucker is not so poor-pitiful. He is the rough and tumbly guy who is always picking fights. Whenever there is a loud bang in the house, everyone automatically yells, "Tucker!" He is no delicate flower. He is Tucker - the little, stinky, comical, creepy-staring guy with a big heart who can dish it out and has shoulders big enough to take it back. He is the guy who would plot his revenge if it didn't take so much effort. He is a product of the 60's (had he been alive during the 60's).

He is our Big Lewbowski.

He is our Dude.

Lucky Friday

We've had another crazy, fun-filled week that was also filled with sadness. Our friend Bogart's dad passed over the rainbow bridge. Everyone in the DWB has been effected by Klaus, Lulu and Bogart. This is a very sad time for them but we know they have received lots of prayers and well wishes from all the dog bloggers and their families.

So, why are we lucky? We are lucky because we are alive to see another sun rise with those we love the most... our family.

Rest in peace Klaus.
